I don't disagree with you about the spawns. I thought I had seen the worst with BO2, but Ghosts may be just as bad if not worse. The saving grace is the size of the maps. Luckily I haven't encountered the spawn trapping that has been reported on the forums several times.
To your other point about host having advantage, I would only say I think I prefer it this way. Reason being is you see people posting frequently about degrading their connection in order to get better performance with lag comp. At least if host has an advantage, perceived or actual, it might get the community to go back to using optimal network settings.
