I have been supporting Activision since 2007, I have played every single game, and I know every single map, ever released, inside out. By now, I think I know what I'm talking about when it comes to things like Call of Duty and online gaming in general. So Ive been playing Activision's most recent installment, Call of Duty Ghosts, and back towards the beginning of the year I kept a very positive attitude towards the game as far as connection and "lag" goes. I have never had much internet connection issues with any game unless I have a major download in progress, such as streaming from netflix, or downloading a game on my pc; and even then, with my 30 mb/s download speed and 10 UP, my game-play is still fairly smooth. However, something, or someone, changed something in the game code, something has gone terribly wrong over the course of the last few updates for the ps4 dating back to early March. The problem consists of the general internet connection quality of any given multiplayer match. Now, to any of you down there that are going to just ask: "What is your average connection speed?" "Have you port forwarded?" do you really think, that my speed is not fast enough for gaming? Do i need a 60 Down 20 UP?!!! To you that are suggesting port forwarding do you honestly believe that port forwarding boosts speed and improves connection quality in online games? I have taken the massive amount of time it takes to port forward, I pay for a good connection, I live in a populated area in the U.S, and my nat type is 1. I frequently monitor the status of my router. I turn off my pc, (which usually isn't doing anything anyway) just to possibly improve my connection. I'm frequently looking at the game update notes, the forums that discuss lag, and I'm always talking to you guys in the lobbies, just to get There is nothing I have done that has improved lag. I think that the problem has to do with lag compensation, but at this point, I honestly don't know. All that I know is that in Black Ops 2 I'm frequently getting 50 kill games, and in Call of Duty Ghosts I can barely reach 15 kills per domination match. You might think "Well it sounds like you play a lot of domination, try some tdm, more people play it, and you will get better connection quality." Not bad advice, but I've tried and tested with no success whatsoever. I bought the season pass, and when Devastation came out yesterday, I was so frustrated with how behind the other players I was that I couldn't even enjoy the unbelievably good maps. It's almost as if these players see me a half a second before I see them. even when I sneak up behind a guy I still have trouble killing him. This lag is not the type of lag that throws you around the map and makes the game literally unplayable, but instead, its almost as if the game is purposely putting me a little behind these other players. I'll have my gun up and ready to shoot a guy and then suddenly a lightning fast call of duty player comes around the corner and pulls his ripper smg out and kills me with one shot before I can even get three shots on him with my Remington. I, like other players on these forums, feel like just switching to squads mode, where I can get a good connection. But, but, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, once, every once in a while, I get into a game where it feels like I AM AHEAD OF EVERYONE. Every once in a while, I end up just absolutely crushing the enemy team. When this does, happen, (it happened once today) the very next match in the same lobby was latent towards me again. No people aren't using lag switches, no it's not my connection, and no its most certainly not where I live and what time I play, its called LAG COMPENSATION.
