I have been gaming online for 16 yrs now beginning with MoH on the PC, then onto console gaming with the CoD franchise, and one yr with BF. In the beginning of console gaming with World at War to now the game has changed. You still have the campers, run n gunners, glitchers, hackers,boosters, and loud mouth idiots.
What is the state of gaming today ? Good question right. Here are a few things to think about. We have many good things that have been added to spoil our appetite for the rich expansive eye candy everyone wanted, more depth to maps, more add ons, perks, attachments, and creativity.
What we continue to get more and more as each game comes along are the money grabbing industry additions. We are told if we buy the seasonal pack for 49.99, it will include all dlc maps, but yet for handing them our money, we still have to pay for more eye candy, patches,skins, and backgrounds. Are we all idiots to buy into this, most likely.
What is really disturbing to me is the online gaming experience. I can handle the unique player styles, whatever guns and perks they want to use. Where there should be a difference in what can be done are the how each game mode is played and how stats are tracked. After all we got great tech now, yet we still have to play with those players who cheat. Modes like domination where players whore up kills, and dont play for the team or captures, or infected (which was a cool game mode) where now players and their buddies, block entrances, and allow their friends to boost up kills. The glitchers, where is the technology that should have prevented this, where is the technology in development that should prevent these things to make our gaming experience better. Yes we have the reporting system, but that is a joke, its just there to make you feel like you did a good thing reporting. SPAWNS are the worst of any CoD game ever, cant tell you how many times yesterday an enemy spawned behind me, and shot me in the back, gotta give some attention to that for sure.
Maybe with all the money they make, they could hire more in-game moderators, and make proper changes to the modes. Take for example, infected, make it so you cant bring your friend or team into the game except for private matches. Maybe change stat counts based on each game mode. Do you need to track k/d in domination, search and destroy, no you dont, you can still gets points for kills, but does not count for k/d, what would be nice is the team win and a bonus for winning that would make it well worth winning the match.
I dont enjoy the game like I did before, its a headache of non compliant game makers working for the money, and not the gamer. Make the gamer happy and the money will follow, right now we all love online gaming with CoD because no company game developer has brought the rival, The BF and CoD are not rivals so get that thought out of your head, two diffrent games, both with the same issues, so one frying pan into another. Someone make a great shooter that will rival them all, and force changes in how we demand for excellence in the product they put out.
